Let me take your photo.
My name is Kate Scott Daly, and I have been a professional photographer in Chicago for over six years. In this time, I have photographed dozens of weddings, hundreds of concerts and festivals, and countless portraits. I am a photographer and journalist for the Chicago Sun-Times, and I am proud to be part of an amazing news team. Alongside happy couples and families, my clients include small businesses, local restaurants, and nationally renowned music venues and record/PR labels.
From getting down on one knee to the first dance, I will help you every step of the way. I have helped couples plan surprise proposals then photographed their walk down the aisle. Having one photographer on your journey can make those moments even more special and intimate.
Because I run my own business, you will be working with me every step of the way. I promise you an intimate and personal one-on-one experience.
I love working with queer couples. I love photographing multicultural celebrations. I want to make you feel comfortable, always.
FROM SCHUBA’S TO LOLLAPALOOZA
I’ve shot bands and musicians in every major venue in the city, and I’ve covered every summer festival Chicago has to offer. I do PR shoots, album covers, and live photos for bands, magazines, and record labels. Let’s make some musical magic.
NOT USED TO POSING? NO BIGGIE.
I love taking portraits. Whether you need a professional headshot for LinkedIn, or you’re looking for some artistic shots around the city, I’m always down to capture the moment.
I CAN MAKE YOUR BUSINESS SHINE.
Marketing photos and social media design are critical to your business. I can help. I have spent years working as a social media manager for such organizations as React Presents, Lake Shore Drive-In, and DishRoulette. I know what it takes to make your Instagram feed pop.
"Where to start? Kate was amazing… we decided to throw a wedding ceremony together in six days. Kate was recommended to us by a friend, and from the first inquiry she was great. She was flexible with our plans, because we didn’t really know what we were going to do at the start. She gave us great recommendations for a videographer (Dark Roast Photography) and helped us choose places to take photos. Our day of was much of the same. Kate was there and ready before we arrived, she had scouted the venue (North Ave Beach) and found the best spot for us to have our ceremony. Kate was friendly, professional and completely understanding of any problems we had. She directed us perfectly. Neither of us are super comfortable in front of the camera and all photos came out looking natural. We could not be happier with the whole experience."
"Kate is amazing! She got us in quick and was very flexible. It took me until a day or two before the shoot to commit to a time and she was totally fine with that. Her bright colors and love of rainbows were a match made in heaven for my little 6 year old! They worked off of each other's energy and it was just such a delight to watch! I had asked her ahead of time what colors he should wear to compliment the purple background that he picked out. She was very helpful with that and she provided him with stars and glitter and it was magical! I can't wait to book another appointment with her!"
"Kate did a lovely job photographing our wedding in February at the Bridgeport Art Center Skyline Loft. She super easy to work with -- timely, professional, and fun! She did a great job capturing a mix of posed photos and candid shots (especially on the dance floor!). She worked quickly and helped everyone feel comfortable doing something we don't have a ton of experience with (posing for professional photos). We're very happy with our decision to work with Kate and would do it again!"
"My cycling team hired Kate to take group shots and individual portraits at our annual summer gathering. The photos came out fantastic, and the shoot was fun, wacky, and easy. Kate has a great attitude, is flexible and willing to try anything, and knows how to make great photos happen. We'll definitely be hiring her again for our next round of team photos!"
"I asked Kate if she would take a family portrait of me with my fiance and cat. She worked with us to schedule a time to come to our house and was great with our grumpy feline. We loved working with her, and she delivered some preview shots and final files. A couple of years later when we needed a different file size, I reached out and she found the pictures and sent within a couple days."
