A beautiful vow renewal at the Ambassador on a Chicago winter day!

When Jamie reached out to me in search of a photographer, I asked her all about the details of her wedding. Turns out, it wasn’t a traditional wedding, but a surprise vow renewal for her husband Kalin! The couple was flying in from Atlanta to spend time with friends and see a concert, so she decided to plan an intimate vow renewal at the Ambassador Hotel on their signature rooftop. With the help of Kari from Wedding Day Chicago (one of my favorite planners in the WORLD), we turned this surprise into a picturesque moment for the couple.

Once Kalin knew the surprise, he was totally on board. The couple, alongside their two best friends who flew into town with them, exchanged heartfelt and meaningful vows on the Ambassador’s rooftop. It was a beautiful, private affair, with both Jamie and Kalin tearing up at one another’s vows. Following their short and sweet exchange, we captured some gorgeous moments at the Ambassador with their friends, as well as stunning couple’s portraits.

After their vow renewal, we headed to the Godfrey Hotel in River North for champagne, fancy food, and even more beautiful city views. The couple and their friends had rented a private heated bungalow on the rooftop, which is such a perfect way to enjoy the skyline without being cold! The hotel even provided gorgeous bathrobes for the couple so they could stay warm when outside.

A vow renewal can be just as romantic and special as your wedding day, and I’m so honored Jamie wanted to work with me. It was an evening I won’t soon forget.
