A rainy afternoon gave way to a beautiful sunset at Room 1520 on Kari and Andrew’s wedding day!

Kari and Andrew’s wedding was so elegant from start to finish, and they had the most beautiful sunset at Room 1520 during their reception. The couple got ready at the Palmer House hotel downtown and had their first look in the hotel’s iconic ballroom. Their wedding party donned emerald green dresses and black tuxes, perfectly fitting for their timeless style throughout the wedding. The day started with a bit of rain, so we went to the Lyric Opera to take photos of the couple and their wedding party. It is one of my favorite spots to go on a rainy day, because it’s fully covered and is one of the most stunning (and iconic) locations in the Loop. I was also able to take some absolutely stunning film photos of the day (which as you know, are some of my favorite photos!)

Room 1520 is a perfect combo of modern loft vibes and classic Chicago style. From the chandeliers in the entryway to the huge windows in the ceremony space, this West Loop venue is a beautiful blank canvas that can be decorated any way you like. Kari and Andrew opted for florals from Hedonia Flowers and a gorgeous spread from Big Delicious Planet to fill the space. Their ceremony was short and sweet and officiated by one of the couple’s close friends. Following the ceremony, guests mingled in the front space of Room 1520 while their ceremony space was transformed for dinner and the reception. A huge shoutout to Kari Thirsk of Wedding Day Chicago for being the most amazing coordinator and keeping everything running smoothly throughout the day!

During their reception, friends and family of the couple gave moving and heartfelt toasts, while guests enjoyed an amazing meal (and desserts!) from Big Delicious Planet. The sun finally came out during golden hour, and we snuck away into Room 1520’s stunning back garden and took couple’s portraits. Kari and Andrew took to the dancefloor and shared their first dance with the help of live band Howl2Go (featuring dueling pianos from the iconic bar Howl at the Moon!) Every guest was out on that dancefloor all night! Kari’s friends had a huge dance party to an ABBA medley, and guests formed a dancing line around Room 1520’s dancefloor! As dusk gave way to night, we took some absolutely gorgeous portraits (that turned out to be some of my favorite of all time).
Congratulations, Kari and Andrew!
