This beautiful polycule celebrated their wedding day with their chosen friends and family and read their vows from Lord of the Rings!

I cannot tell how you excited I was to shoot my first poly wedding! I was also super excited to work with one of my favorite venues, Colvin House. For those who don’t know, here’s a quick lesson! A polycule is a group of people involved in romantic relationships that connect each member of the group. For Bridget, Lore, and Scott, they planned two ceremonies: a vow renewal for Lore and Scott, and a declaration of marriage for Bridget and Lore. Bridget and Scott are metamours, meaning that they share a partner (Lore), but they are not romantically involved. The trio were so excited to share their vows of love with one another in front of their friends and family. Bridget wore a stunning wedding dress and celestial veil, while Lore and Scott wore outfits based on the fashion of Lord of the Rings. Bridget and Lore shared a first look, which brought Lore to tears. After their first look, we went to the park across the street from Colvin House to take portraits.

As guests started to find their seats outside at Colvin House, one thing was clear: this space was completely full of love. Bridget, Lore, and Scott filled tables outside with bubbles and pronoun-affirming pins for guests to use. Families, couples, polycules, and children filled the rows, waiting for the guests of honor to come down the aisle.
Side note: I cannot overstate how amazing the fashion was at this wedding. Every single person there understood the assignment and made the day even more whimsical.

Lore and Scott exchanged vows first, renewing their marriage vows after 10+ years of being married. They exchanged rings and drank from a goblet of wine before a handfasting ceremony. After Lore and Scott’s ceremony, Bridget walked down the aisle carrying a beautiful replica of Thor’s hammer in lieu of a bouquet. Lore couldn’t hold in their tears while reading their vows to Bridget, and the couple sealed their vows by exchanging rings and sharing their first kiss. Finally, Bridget, Lore, and Scott joined hands on Thor’s hammer and vowed to protect one another, and they walked down the aisle hand in hand.

Following the ceremony, guests joined the polycule for cocktails and a unique bouquet toss. Instead of throwing flowers to the single women in the crowd, Bridget threw a giant stuffed corgi, and one of the amazing kids at the wedding got to keep it! A few of the trio’s friends shared some meaningful words during dinner, and then they cut a cake that simply said “GAAAAAAAY”. I have never laughed so hard at a cake. I mean, how iconic is that?

Both Bridget and Lore and Scott and Lore shared a first dance, and everyone else joined in on the dance floor afterwards. This was truly one of my favorite weddings I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. Poly weddings are a beautiful staple of the industry and deserve to be celebrated with just as much excitement and joy as every other wedding. Queer weddings are the fucking best.
Congratulations to Bridget, Lore, and Scott!
