Liz & Timothea @ Osteria Via Stato

Everyone should include their dog on their wedding day!

A queer couple celebrates their wedding at Osteria Via Stato

8.2.24

I literally cannot say enough about this couple! Liz and Timothea wanted a stunning summer wedding at the iconic Osteria Via Stato, and their wish came true. Before their wedding day, we met for coffee to discuss their vision for the wedding (something I always love doing!), and right away, I knew I could bring this vision to life. They didn’t want an overly rehearsed or formal wedding, and they wanted their photos to match that vibe. Luckily, that is the vibe I bring to every wedding. We started the day at their home on the north side with their perfect angel of a dog, Echo. It was so important to them to get photos with Echo before we headed downtown, and I was so happy to oblige. You can’t always bring your dog to the wedding venue, but I will always start the day off with you and your pets to make sure they’re part of the day!

After saying goodbye to Echo (ECHO I LOVE YOU), we headed to Osteria Via Stato to take family photos before the ceremony. Liz and Timothea were having a Jewish ceremony, so I made sure to capture every element and important aspect of their culture before the ceremony. Their chuppah was made from different cloths that had been passed down in both of their families. The couple signed the ketubah with their parents and close family members, then tucked away while guests arrived. Their ceremony was filled with both traditional Jewish elements and personal touches from the couple.

Osteria Via Stato has a beautiful outside deck, and on this particular August day, the weather was perfect. Guests mingled on the deck and happily greeted the couple after the ceremony. We also took the time to capture a few couple’s portraits under Osteria Via Stato’s string lights. One of my favorite moments of the day came when a group of kids walked by the deck, and one of them tossed a small crocheted turtle to the couple!

As guests sat down to dinner, Liz and Timothea gave a welcome toast and thanked everyone for being there. A friend offered a blessing before the meal, and the couple walked up and down the family-style tables to personally hug everyone. Their wedding day was simple, personal, and candid: my perfect kind of day.

Congratulations to Liz and Timothea!
