AJ & Lital at Chicago Firehouse Restaurant

A small, queer wedding in the heart of the South Loop!

Chicago Firehouse Restaurant Wedding

10.15.22

Here are a few facts that shouldn’t shock you: I love queer weddings, I love small weddings, and I love adorable moments that make me shriek in a way that only dogs can hear. AJ and Lital’s intimate wedding at the Chicago Firehouse checked all the boxes. Before their wedding, we met up in Old Town to get to know each other better and go over their big (little!) day. I love meeting my couples at a coffee shop or bar before the wedding-it gives me a chance to chat with them and learn more about them so they don’t feel like a stranger is showing up on their wedding day!

Both AJ and Lital wanted their wedding to be sweet, simple, and all about their guests. Family and friends had traveled from all around the world to celebrate their love, and it was so important to the couple that they got to spend time with each person. With a guest count under 40 people, the couple was able to achieve their dream wedding with their chosen people. They rented a private room at the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant in the South Loop, complete with a private balcony overlooking Michigan Avenue. As guests started to arrive, the couple greeted everyone with open arms and a huge smile on their faces.

The couple’s ceremony included some deeply personal touches. Lital’s vows were in both English and Hebrew, and both couples quoted some of their favorite feminist authors and poets. Their officiant, a close friend of the couple, had everyone laughing and a little teary-eyed during the ceremony. Following their ceremony, AJ and Lital snapped pics with their friends and family while the Chicago Firehouse served dinner.

AJ and LItal’s reception was super casual, which is exactly what they wanted! A few friends and family gave heartfelt (and hilarious) speeches, the couple shared some amazing cake, and we took photos out on the private balcony. We had an amazing night celebrating their love with their closest people!
