Alex & Joey @ Wildman BT

Met Gala fashion, drag queen performances, and rainbow confetti! Yes, this was my dream wedding.

A queer wedding at Wildman BT in Chicago.

3.30.24

Meeting Alex and Joey for the first time was like meeting best friends after years of being apart. Immediately, that connection is there. Their wedding at Wildman BT was a showstopper (I mean, when a drag queen performs at your reception, it’s a guarantee). When we met for their engagement session the previous summer, it was instantly clear how much fun they were. They both had so many amazing ideas to recreate images from their favorite show, Heartstoppers (they later used those photos for their wedding invitations).

On their wedding day, the couple chose to get ready together upstairs at Wildman BT. Alex and Joey dressed in stunning jewel-toned Indochino suits, while their wedding party wore all white. This combo was to DIE for, and I cannot say enough about this fashion moment. I need more people to do this, please!

Thanks to the amazing team at Atmosphere Events Group, the interior of Wildman BT was dressed to the nines as well. The space was filled with disco balls, rainbow florals, and stunning table settings (and the cakes by Jennivee’s Bakery were exquisite!). When the wedding party walked down the aisle, their flower girl (a full grown adult with a bunny basket) threw confetti into the air. The couple’s friends read from a recreation of the Burn Book from Mean Girls (because reading is what? FUNDAMENTAL!), and Alex and Joey exchanged personal and heartfelt vows.

One of the best things about Wildman BT is the versatility of the venue. While dinner was being set up on one side, Irish dancers entertained guests while guests had signature cocktails. Also, a huge shoutout to Naturally Yours Events for coordinating and planning everything! After dinner and toasts, everyone gathered back on the dance floor for a drag performance that I’ll never forget. A huge, huge shoutout to Sapphire Feliciano! If you’re reading this, take this as a sign: hire a drag queen for your wedding! There is literally no downside. Guests were soon tearing it up on the dance floor as the evening turned into night, and Alex and Joey posed for a few final night portraits outside of Wildman BT.

This was one of my favorite Spring weddings, and I wish Alex and Joey all the best!
