The Garfield Park Conservatory is a literal dream spot for your proposal!

I have shot so many proposals, and I’ve said it before: I get so nervous and excited knowing that someone is about to ask their partner to marry them! When Eliza emailed me asking if I could help plan her proposal to her girlfriend Ale, I was so excited to capture such an important moment. The Garfield Park Conservatory is such an amazing location for a proposal. No matter the weather or time of day, you’re guaranteed a beautiful experience.

Eliza and Ale were visiting from out of town, so Ale was truly surprised when Eliza got down on one knee in the fern room of the conservatory. They were both so elated and didn’t stop smiling during their entire session. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love celebrating queer love! After Ale said yes (because of course she did!), we spent the next hour wandering the Garfield Park Conservatory, capturing natural and candid moments that celebrated their relationship.

The weather was gorgeous, so we were also able to venture outside and snap some photos in the gardens. I really didn’t have to give Eliza and Ale any direction; they were so comfortable with one another. I couldn’t stop smiling during their session! Nothing makes me happier than capturing that indescribable feeling right after a proposal.

I love that people from out of town choose the Garfield Park Conservatory for photo sessions. It’s in such a gorgeous part of the city that not many tourists travel to, they’re never disappointed. The Garfield Park Conservatory does require a photo permit, but admission is free! I highly recommend looking into this venue for proposals, engagement sessions, and portraits on your wedding day.
