What’s more picturesque than capturing a proposal on the iconic South Pond bridge in Lincoln Park?

When James reached out to me to capture his proposal to Ally, I was so excited! James officiated a COVID wedding I photographed in 2020 at North Avenue Beach; it was just the couple, James, and myself, and it was a beautiful elopement. I knew I wanted to make James’ proposal photos extra special. We planned for the first day in April, and I anxiously waited to see if the weather would hold up. Thank you weather gods for keeping the rain away!

James chose one of my favorite spots in the city for proposals: the bridge overlooking the South Pond in Lincoln Park. You get the most beautiful view of the city, complete with trees and a little bit of the Lincoln Park Zoo. When James got down on one knee, it was clear that Ally had no idea it was coming! She literally jumped in the air in excitement, and she was beaming the entire time. Ally was also thrilled to take portraits after the proposal, and the two of them walked hand-in-hand to the honeycomb at the end of the South Pond.

After we got to the honeycomb, we captured some of my favorite types of photos: walking photos! Hear me out: when you walk with your partner, smiling and laughing, you’re unaware of the camera. Many of my favorite photos of couples are ones where they have no idea I’m even there. Forget about the camera! I’m here to make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed, and it was clear that James and Ally were in their own world as we walked back to the bridge.

Nothing makes me happier than being trusted to capture one of the most important moments in a couple’s relationship! I’m always so honored when I get to photograph a proposal-thank you James and Ally! Can’t wait to hear about the wedding details! <3
