Lia & Tye at Lacuna Lofts

Lia and Tye’s wedding day was all about one thing: joy!

When I think of Lia and Tye’s wedding, I am immediately brought back to a gorgeous spring day in Chicago. Lia and Tye were so happy to spend the day together; their joy was contagious. Lacuna Lofts was the perfect venue for them, too. Their effortlessness in front of the camera was almost too much to handle! (Tip: It’s always a good idea to book an engagement session before the big day so you’re comfortable on your wedding day! Lia and Tye had their engagement session the summer before their wedding.)

Lia and her bridesmaids got ready at Lia and Tye’s apartment in Ukrainian Village. Getting ready at home can be a great alternative to a hotel or the venue if you’re looking for a more personal, laid back vibe. Once Lia was in her stunning wedding gown, we headed to the venue for the couple’s first look. The weather was gorgeous, so Lia and Tye had their first look on the rooftop of Lacuna Lofts.

We took photos of the wedding party outside of Lacuna Lofts and across the street at Lo Rez Brewing. The couple enjoyed some beers with their friends, and the bridesmaids lost their minds over a kitten that one of the bartenders had brought in for the day (okay, I lost my mind too!) We also took artistic portraits of everyone across the street from Lo Rez before heading back to Lacuna Lofts for their ceremony.

Seriously. Look at this kitten.

Lia and Tye’s ceremony on the top floor of Lacuna Lofts (officiated by the amazing Carla at Forever Incredible Ceremonies) was filled with heartfelt stories of the couple and handwritten vows. Their cocktail hour on the ground floor was a literal breath of fresh air. The venue opened their doors to the front patio so guests could go outside and enjoy the spring breeze before dinner. The details of their reception rom were absolutely stunning.

During dinner, some of Lia and Tye’s best friends and family members toasted the newly married couple. We snuck away at dusk to grab some photos during blue hour (don’t skip out on blue hour, people!!), then it was time to dance up a storm! Lacuna Lofts is one of my favorite venues, and Lia and Tye were definitely one of my favorite couples.
